The disinformation campaigns funded by Exxon and others had not been ethical because these organizations had wanted to run their businesses at any cost. Therefore, there could not be all the researched information revealed. Exxon had wanted to take the government of area of operations into confidence so that there would not be any legal barriers faced by the organization to run its business. The business-minded mentality to earn sustainable profits had been appropriate only to the extent that there would not be harm caused to the environment or the customers.
